Indian Space Industry Exhibition, Ghaziabad

Shri Anil Chand Mathur, who retired as Group Director, Space Applications Centre, ISRO, Ahmedabad conceived the idea of establishing the Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Space Science Gallery at the leading industrial city – Uttar Pradesh. It will create awareness about the Space Science and Technology among the school and college going students of Ghaziabad.

Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Space Science Gallery

The Lal Bahadur Shastri Space Science Gallery is a unique gallery of its kind in the state of Uttar Pradesh (UP). The gallery is created in the heart of the Ghaziabad city to create awareness about the Space Science and Technology among the students, professionals, engineers and the common man. One can visit the gallery between 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday, Sunday and on public holidays. The gallery initially plans to display the following:

  • Pictures of famous Indian Space Scientists
  • Posters and models of Rockets/ Satellites
  • Posters and models of Satellite Launch Vehicles
  • Pictures of Recent Space Missions of ISRO, NASA, ESA etc.
  • Posters of Indian and foreign cities through Earth Observation Satellites
  • DIY kits of Spacecraft and Rocket models for young school students

About ISRO

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is the space agency of India. The organisation is involved in science, engineering and technology to harvest the benefits of outer space for India and the mankind. ISRO is a major constituent of the Department of Space (DOS), Government of India. The department executes the Indian Space Programme primarily through various Centres or units within ISRO.

ISRO was previously the Indian National Committee for Space Research (INCOSPAR), set up by the Government of India in 1962, as envisioned by Dr. VikramA Sarabhai. ISRO was formed on August 15, 1969 and superseded INCOSPAR with an expanded role to harness space technology. DOS was set up and ISRO was brought under DOS in 1972.
